“September days have the warmth of summer in their briefer hours, but in their lengthening evenings a prophetic breath of autumn.”
~ Rowland E. Robinson
There’s something magical about September. In New York the heat of summer begins to lift as the days slowly shorten and the sun turns gold with each passing sunset. Windows stay open and the breeze carries the crisp scent of fall. There is no other way to describe how it feels other than as a fall breeze. The sunflowers are in full bloom in their shades of yellows and oranges. It is the season for apple picking, pumpkin patches and hayrides, pumpkin spice lattes, cardigans and burrowing under an extra blanket at night. There is so much romance to autumn.
I want to create ten different Spotify playlists for every single mood, bake a hundred different kinds of apple recipes, and go for a drive when the leaves are at their brightest colors. The next few months are for reading dark academia books, stories of girls who willingly get lost in enchanted forests and become a part of its magic, haunting plots that keep you on the edge of your seat.
While it’s not quite fall yet, there’s still over twenty days until summer is officially over, I feel like it has already slowly begun. The season is short enough with the last part of it being filled with cold November days and a rush of busyness into the holidays. I feel most alive in the fall and cannot capture the feeling any other time of the year. For me autumn starts at the beginning of September.

P.S.
You may have noticed but I gave my site a makeover for fall! I wanted a slightly cleaner, autumn-ey look and I’m so happy with how it turned out. Props to me for getting past my dislike of designing websites. xD
what’s your favourite thing about fall?
